Sunshine and punishing 90-degree temperatures greeted Spring Awakening Music Festival attendees on Friday, as the summer music festival kicked off a weekend of EDM and DJs. The event's relocation to Addams/Medill Park (near Little Italy and University Village) didn't seem to dissuade guests, who showed up in droves to catch headlining sets from Deadmau5, Steve Aoki, Jamie xx and more. Take a look at all the pyrotechnics, light shows and tank tops we captured on the festival's first day.

It may seem trite, but summer really is the best time to see live music in Chicago. Whether you prefer music festivals, gigs at Chicago music venues or free shows in Millennium Park, there's no shortage of summer concerts to take in throughout the warmest months of the year. Grab a beer and see all your favorite artists at the best summer concerts.
