He may not be as widely recognized as the late DJ Rashad, but RP Boo is credited as the originator of Chicago's footwork sound. The electronic genre, which evolved out of the city's rich house and juke music scenes, derives its name from the fast feet movements that dancers employ. On his latest release, Fingers, Bank Pads & Shoe Prints, RP Boo packs rapid-fire snare hits and looped samples into joyous tracks that are tailored to inspire movement. After a collaborative set with Planet Mu Records labelmate Jlin at Pitchfork Music Festivlal, RP Boo brings the party to Smart Bar with DJ Spinn, Scratcha, DVA, DJ Taye and DJ Mann.
