Inspired by the sample-ridden collages of local jazz acts like Makaya McCraven and Junius Paul as well as the genre-fusing instrumental compositions of Chicago post-rock outfit Tortoise, the debut album from Resavoir takes a self-assured voyage into fresh waters. Will Miller, who is best known for his work with folk-rockers Whitney, built the tracks that populate the band's self-titled debut from home recordings, reaching out to friends like Akenya Seymour, Lane Beckstrom and Knox Fortune to flesh out each composition. The result is a collaboration that bolsters taut horn melodies and atmospheric synths with contributions by some of Chicago's most talented musicians. The group headlines Lincoln Hall as part of the Tomorrow Never Knows music festival, joined by local pop duo Valebol and drummer-turned-singer-songwriter Luke Titus.
