Since their debut as Parquet Courts, brothers Max and Andrew Savage have proven that straight-ahead guitar rock can still be intelligent and subversive. Teaming up with producer Danger Mouse for its latest album, Wide Awake!, the New York group augments its garage-rock arrangements with some studio wizardry, introducing keyboards, synths and auxiliary percussion to it sonic arsenal. Thankfully, the band's razor-sharp wit remains intact, exemplified in songs that ernestly address everything from gentrification to global warming.
