Mayer Hawthorne

This Ann Arbor native counts Isaac Hayes, Leroy Hutson and Barry White among his influences, but draws the most inspiration from Smokey Robinson, Hall & Oates and the legendary songwriting and production trio of Holland/Dozier/Holland. His lush and infectious, retro-modernist soul is showcased on his latest album, Where Does This Door Go, which adds a little Steely Dan flavor to the mix.
