This Tokyo quintet proves that psychedelia is a universal language, unleashing the intersecting guitar lines, droning synths and motorik beats that populate its recent album, Masana Temples. Recorded with jazz musician Bruno Pernadas in the wake of the group's departure from its communal home in Tokyo, Kikagaku Moyo's latest compositions reflect the variety of places the band has ended up, conjuring new styles and instrumentation. Japanese psychedelic krautrockers Minami Deutsch open the show.
