Johnny Marr

Former Smiths cofounder, composer and current alt-rock guitar god Johnny Marr has worked with a who's who of musicians throughout his magnificent career. Since the Smiths disbanded, he's spent every year as a fully-fledged member of at least one band, from the Pretenders to Electronic to Modest Mouse to the Cribs. Last year, Marr released his first-ever solo album, The Messenger, filled with his euphoric playing, and a follow-up, Playland, is due out in October. This show is a WXRT holiday concert for the kids, and concertgoers are encouraged to bring a new book or toy for Chicago children in hospitals over the holidays.
