Ex Hex + Moaning

As a member of Helium and Wild Flag, Mary Timony has proven herself as a stalwart proponent of scortching riffs and catchy refrains. After a few years on the road, Timony returns at the head of her power trio Ex Hex (named for her 2005 solo album) and a fiery new record, entitled It's Real. With nods to punk bands, spacey psych acts and ’80s hair metal, Ex Hex's latest is a fairly comprehensive stab at contemporary rock and roll that balances hair-raising volume with a reverence for the genre's depth and breadth. Los Angeles post-punk trio Moaning opens the show.
