Excellent L.A. band Dengue Fever features a bunch of indie vets playing in the style of ’60s Cambodian rock music—but it's more spooky than kitschy. The group's coup was finding singer Chhom Nimol, a native of Phnom Penh who performed for the king and queen of Cambodia before moving to California, and sings in an intense, captivating quaver. The band returns to town to dive into material from its latest, The Deepest Lake.
