Stripping away much of the psych-rock sheen that defined its first two records, Cymbals Eat Guitars take a more straightforward approach on its latest album, Pretty Years. There are echoes of Springsteen on the debut single, "Wish," but there's still a certain sense of vulnerability that's palpable amid the growling saxophones and anthemic synth fanfares. Dreamy pop act Field Mouse and Baltimore shoegazers Wildhoney support.
