On the latest Cloud Nothings album, The Shadow I Remember, frontman Dylan Baldi looks back on the past decade amid thundering drums and triumphant guitar riffs. Returning to Chicago recording studio Electrical Audio (where the band cut its first studio album, Attack on Memory) and working with engineer Steve Albini, Baldi's latest songs find nostalgia in the post-punk riffs and barrages of cathartic noise that have come to characterize his work. But there are some new twists, including appearances by local musicians Macie Stewart and Brett Naucke, who flesh out a few tracks with additional vocals and electronics. With so much Chicago talent on display, this pair of shows at the Empty Bottle are sure to be a celebratory affair. Experimental duo Manas opens each of the shows.
