Kick off Black History month with a special exhibit at the Illinois Holocaust Museum and Education Center dedicated to the “Green Book,” an annual travel guide created in 1936 that provided African Americans with information on Black-friendly businesses during the Jim Crow era. Visitors will explore film, photographs, oral histories and more from travelers and business owners, as well as appreciate historical objects from the Smithsonian and “Green Book” sites.
