A success in London, New York City and Los Angeles, a new outdoor movies experience is debuting in Chicago in June later this summer. Rooftop Cinema Club, launched in London in 2011, offers a more structured al fresco screening experience—you don’t even need to bring your own blankets and lawn chairs.

With movie screenings five nights a week throughout the summer atop the DoubleTree by Hilton—Magnificent Mile, Rooftop Cinema Club provides comfy lawn chairs (and blankets on request) along with wireless headphones, so you can concentrate on the movie and not your neighbors' conversation. Food and drink concessions are provided by DoubleTree.

The series opens with a week's worth of Chicago movies, including High Fidelity, The Blues Brothers, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, My Best Friend’s Wedding and The Breakfast Club. The rest of the first month features everything from classics like Casablanca to newer hits like Straight Outta Compton and Room.

Doors open every night Wednesday through Sunday at 6pm, with screenings starting around 8:30pm. General admission tickets are $15 (plus booking fee); $25 tickets (plus fee) get you a drink and unlimited popcorn with admission.

Update from Rooftop Cinema Club: It is with a heavy heart that we have to announce we have been forced to postpone our screenings at Rooftop Cinema Club at the DoubleTree by Hilton Magnificent Mile.

Over the last six years, Rooftop Cinema Club has hosted thousands of screenings in London, New York and Los Angeles and never before have we had to postpone an opening season. Unfortunately in this case, the circumstances are completely out of our hands and owing to unforeseen issues at DoubleTree by Hilton.

All tickets purchased for Rooftop Cinema Club will be transferred to new dates in July/August and guests will be sent details of our new schedule imminently. If you are unable to make your new date tickets will, of course, be refunded in full. We apologize for the inconvenience caused and we hope to see you on the rooftop soon.
