Premiering this evening, PleasureTown is a story-based writing project about a fictional, turn-of-the-century Oklahoma town and the colorful individuals who inhabit it. Co-produced by Keith Ecker and Erin Kahoa, it features familiar faces on the local live lit scene: Ian Belknap (Write Club), Jen Bosworth (Why Not Me?), Shannon Cason (The Moth), Don Hall (WBEZ and The Moth), Dana Norris (Story Club) and Scott Whitehair (StoryLab Chicago, This Much Is True), as well as musical accompaniment by River Rising. Expect a convergence of theater, folk music and storytelling-or, as described by the producers, "Prairie Home Companion meets Caligula." We're intrigued.
