Escape to Margaritaville, the new Jimmy Buffett jukebox musical that’s making Chicago its final layover before a Broadway bow next spring, has set an onsale date of June 20 for individual tickets to see its three-week run at the Oriental Theatre this fall.

A romantic comedy set at a tropical island resort (obviously), Escape to Margaritaville comes with a book by the sitcom writer Greg Garcia (My Name Is Earl, Raising Hope) and the comedian Mike O’Malley and a couple dozen or so numbers from Buffett’s catalog. The show is currently in the middle of a two-month run at San Diego’s La Jolla Playhouse, where The San Diego Union-Tribune’s review last week said the show “delivers just about every bit of what the phrase ‘Jimmy Buffett musical’ promises, from the splashy colors to the steel-drum beats to the palm-fronded beach bar slinging fruity cocktails.” At La Jolla the show stars Paul Alexander Nolan, Alison Luff and Lisa Howard, but no casting has been confirmed for future iterations.

From San Diego, the show will take a few months off (to go surfing, presumably) before starting up again in October with two weekends in New Orleans, followed by a one-week run in Houston and then Broadway in Chicago’s Oriental Theatre, November 9 to December 2. Margaritaville will begin Broadway performances at the Marquis Theatre on February 16, with an opening date set for March 15.
