WBEZ, Chicago's NPR affiliate, is launching a series of live tapings of several of the station's podcasts. Dubbed Podcast Passport, the series will feature monthly events at venues around the city. A subscription for all five tapings runs $80 for WBEZ members, $100 for non-members; some (but not all) events will have individual tickets available for $25.
Podcast Passport kicks off next week with a January 9 taping of Filmspotting, hosts Adam Kempenaar and Josh Larsen's indispensable movie review 'cast, at Rogers Park's Mayne Stage. Later live tapings include storyteller Shannon Cason's Homemade Stories, February 3 at The Promontory in Hyde Park; Curious City, March 30 at the Old Town School of Folk Music; the venerable Sound Opinions, with music critics Greg Kot and Jim DeRogatis, April 13 at Lincoln Hall; and Tricia Bobeda and Greta Johnsen's interview show Nerdette, May 11 at Victory Gardens Biograph Theater.
