Today, the world lost another musical legend, one who hailed from the not-so-distant city of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Prince popularized the Minneapolis sound, introducing a hybrid of funk, R&B, disco and rock influences to fans all around the world. If you're looking for a place to celebrate Prince's music and life with fellow fans, you can probably stop by any great bar in Chicago this evening and hear a bit of "Purple Rain."  We've found some local spots with more extensive commemorations on tap.

Beauty Bar

From today through Saturday, Beauty Bar will hold a daily Prince-themed happy hour from 7–9pm, featuring $4 champagne and DJ sets by Rene Romero, Marco Morales and Matt Roan. The bar will also screen Prince's movies Under the Cherry Moon, Purple Rain and Graffiti Bridge.

Cerise Rooftop at Virgin Hotels Chicago

Michael Serafini is scheduled to spin on the Virgin Hotel rooftop tonight, and it sounds like he's planning a set of his favorite Prince songs. Come sing (and dance) along.

Slippery Slope

You'll definitely hear some deep Prince cuts tonight when DJs John Simmons and Brian Borden step behind the turntables at this popular Logan Square bar. Down a bottled cocktail and dance out your feelings.

Berlin

All of the DJs spinning at tonight's Acid Dreams party will be bringing along some Prince records, according to a Facebook update from Berlin. Show up prepared to strut your stuff under the disco ball.

Logan Theatre

The beautiful Logan Theater lobby bar will host a Prince-themed DJ set from Tyler Huffman of Cage+Aquarium this evening. There's a good chance the theater will screen some of Prince's films in the coming weeks.

The Whistler

The monthly Slo ‘Mo party was already planning to honor the late Phife Dawg (of A Tribe Called Quest), but DJs Tess and Audio Jack will also be spinning some Prince tunes at tonight’s event.

North Center

DNAinfo is reporting that the organizers behind Princemas—a group of Prince-themed Christmas carolers—are hosting a candlelight vigil for the Purple One at Damen and Belle Plaine avenues in North Center. Attendees are being asked to wear purple and bring a candle.
