Walmart Express stores closing in Chicago

Walmart, that godless retail giant that's made billions by running locally-owned shops out of business, is closing two of its stores in Chicago, according to a press release. The pair of locations at 3636 N Broadway and 225 W Chicago Ave are Walmart Express stores which carry a mix of groceries and household items, and are among 269 stores that are closing globally.

The two stores make up a small portion of Walmart's overall presence in the city, but their departure ought to bring a smile to the face of anyone in Lakeview or Gold Coast who isn't a fan of the effect that the Bentonville, Arkansas-based company tends to have on neighborhoods where it opens up shop. While the massive Walmart Supercenters have failed to gain much footing in the city, the company opened up smaller, scaled back locations branded as "Walmart Express" or "Walmart Neighborhood Markets," the latter of which has five locations scattered across the city that will not be effected by the closings.

We're looking forward to seeing what will occupy the storefronts that Walmart is vacating. Pretty much anything else would be an improvement—even, say, a super kinky BDSM club.
