New Belgium's Tour de Fat is returning to Chicago to celebrate bikes and brews in its own wild way in Logan Square this July. Last year, tons of cyclists and beer lovers showed up to the Colorado-based brewery's event to promote cycling as a sustainable form of transportation.

The weird and wonderful fest begins with a costumed bike parade through Palmer Square, where bikers are encouraged to don their most outrageous outfits, from flower fairies to old-school Mario Brothers. It doesn't matter whether you're on a unicycle or have training wheels as long as you're pedaling. Anyone can enjoy a day full of funky carnival entertainment, unusual bikes and cold New Belgium beer on July 9. If you dare, you can even take the stage and pledge to live car-free for one year. You'll have to hand over your car keys, but if you apply to be a "swapper" beforehand, you might get $2,250 for a sweet new bike.
