Chicago may be covered in a thick blanket of snow and ice when January rolls around, but that won't stop some local music venues from throwing an (indoor) festival. The annual Tomorrow Never Knows festival revealed its initial 2017 lineup today, disclosing a list of bands and comedians that will perform at Schubas, Lincoln Hall, Metro and Hideout on January 11–15.
Highlights of the 2017 music lineup include genre-defying local instrumental outfit Tortoise, Evanston-native indie rocker Ezra Furman, reformed hardcore punks Ceremony and instrumental hip-hop quartet BadBadNotGood. The Hideout's comedy lineup exclusively features female comedians, from Daily Show contributor Michelle Wolf to recent Chicago expat Beth Stelling.
While the initial Tomorrow Never Knows lineup is already giving us something to look forward in January, more supporting and headlining acts will be announced in the coming weeks (expect a Friday night show at Lincoln Hall and additional shows at Metro and Smartbar). Check out the confirmed bands below—tickets to all of these shows go on sale at noon on Friday, October 28.
