This morning, Christkindlmarket unveiled the vessel that will deliver thousands of gallons of steaming Glühwein in Daley Plaza when the annual holiday market returns from November 17 to December 24. Those hoping for the return of the infamous boot-shaped mug will be disappointed—the 2017 souvenir mug sports a festive maroon and gold "punch kettle" design and can be filled with the market's signature mulled wine or hot chocolate. Just like last year, a special Kinder Club Snowman mug filled with cocoa will also be available.

If you've walked by Daley Plaza recently, you probably noticed that the cabins and booths are already being constructed in anticipation of the market's opening later this month. Admission to the European-inspired bazaar will be free (as usual) and guests will be able to make purchases and then stay toasty in the Grand Timber Haus or the Warming Tent. Organizers are promising even more surprise at this year's iteration, including appearances by the Alpine Brass band and daily advent calendar prize drawings.

Christkindlmarket will also host a market in Naperville this year, taking up residence on the village green at the Naper Settlement (523 S Webster St) from November 24 to December 24. The satellite outpost will include 50 vendors, selling handmade ornaments, wood carvings, pastries and German cuisine. Naturally, the space will have its own version of the souvenir mug, available with the purchase of Glühwein or hot chocolate.

Take a look at some photos of the mug below and imagine yourself sipping on liquid holiday cheer beneath the Picasso in Daley Plaza later this month.
