1. Catch an old-fashioned Christmas tradition
It’s a Wonderful Life: Live In Chicago! enters its 14th holiday season this year, though it feels much older than that. The 1940s-style “live radio play” from American Blues Theater taps into decades-old holiday sentiments. (Greenhouse Theater Center, 2257 N Lincoln Ave 7:30pm. $19–$49)
2. Listen to your favorite folk and country songs
Chicago folk singer Robbie Fulks kicks off his weekly Hideout concert series tonight. If you don’t know Fulks, you’ll know his songs; he’s known for his folk-rock covers of Hank Williams, Gram Parsons, and even some pop. (The Hideout, 1354 W Wabansia Ave, 7pm. $10 suggested donation)
3. Go full-blown Chicago holiday season
Zoolights: It’s free, it’s family-friendly, and it’s magical as hell. If you haven’t gone yet this season, make tonight the night. (Lincoln Park Zoo, 2001 N Clark St, 4:30pm-9pm. Free)
