1. Rock out at a music hall

The Violent Femmes has been through it all. The punk rock outfit disbanded and then reunited in 2012, and now the group will play a special concert benefitting the Chicago Coalition for the Homeless. (Concord Music Hall, 2047 N Milwaukee Ave, 7pm. $35)

2. Admire celestial art

Artist Paul Catanese just couldn’t take his eyes off the sky. See his large-scale drawings and a giant helium-filled blimp that captures footage from above in his solo exhibition, “Visible from Space.” (Chicago Cultural Center, 78 E Washington St, 9am. Free)

3. Laugh it up

Grab a seat at Public House Theatre’s weekly show—Get Up, Stand Up—which mixes open mic and featured comedians. Get a laugh, grab a beer and maybe even stay for another show. (The Public House Theatre, 3914 N Clark St, 9:30pm. Free)
