1. Rock out with a post-punk band
Guitarist Dan Boeckner makes a stop in Chicago with his darkly hued synth-pop act Operators. You'll get a chance to hear music from the new album, Blue Wave, which will be released April 1. (Schubas, 3159 N Southport Ave, 8pm, $15)
2. Get your laughs at the oldest improv show
Take a seat at one of Chicago's longest running improvised comedy shows, The Armando Diaz Experience. At this show, a one-word suggestion from the audience launches a single performer into a monologue. Then, in the second act, the improv ensemble creates scenes around that story. (iO Theater, 1501 N Kingsbury St, 8pm, $12)
Step inside Vincent van Gogh's bedroom. The Art Institute displays three versions of the famous artist's bedroom, which he painted during different periods. (The Art Institute, 111 S Michigan Ave, 10:30am–5pm, $20–$25)
