It officially feels like fall in Chicago, which means it's time to break out the fall beers, from lagers packed with spices to darker porters and stouts that make you want to cuddle up by the fire. This week, we're getting cozy with 5 Rabbit's Vida Y Muerte "Muerzen," a kind of cross between a Marzen and Oktoberfest. Regardless of style, it definitely tastes like fall. It's brewed with milk caramel and spices, giving it a warm toasty feeling we could pair easily with dessert (pumpkin pie, anyone?).
The beer honors Dia de los Muertos, and it's darker than our summer lagers but not too dark—perfect for the transitional season. The beer is currently being poured on draft at bars around the city, but you can also find it in bottles at most places that sell beer and liquor (we even found it at Target in the Loop), for a night when you'd rather curl up in your apartment than accept that the weather's changing.
