1. Enjoy the sweeter side of life

Chicago's best bakeries, restaurants and ice cream shops sample some of their most popular treats at Time Out Chicago's Treat Yo' Self event. You'll get to try the Oh My! Caramel Pie from Beatrix, chilled affogato floats from Black Dog Gelato and cupcakes from Sprinkles Cupcakes. Don't miss out, you deserve this. (Fulton Market Kitchen, 311 N Sangamon St, sessions beginning Sun at 11am, 1pm and 3pm, $27.37)

2. Hunt for vintage finds

The Randolph Street Market is like Etsy, except you can shop in real life with a glass of wine in your hands. Look for vintage clothes, handcrafted goods and antiques from over 100 vendors. (Beaux Arts Plumbers Union Hall Building, 1340 W Washington Blvd, Sat, Sun at 10am, $8 advance, $10 door)

3. Celebrate Earth Day

Take a breath of fresh air in the beautiful Garfield Park Conservatory at this celebration of the planet. Guests will enjoy food, drinks and music curated by the chef of Lula Cafe and Earth Day-inspired cocktails with Paul McGee. (Garfield Park Conservatory, 300 N Central Park Ave, Fri at 6pm, $5-$100)

4. See the Avett Brothers

The Avett Brothers' blend of folk, bluegrass and pop comes to the Chicago Theatre this weekend. The band just recorded its ninth album, True Sadness, so expect to hear new songs and old favorites. (Chicago Theatre, 175 N State St, Fri-Sat at 8pm, $45-$75)

5. Run like the wind

Join the annual 10K race held as part of Morton Arboretum's Arbor Day celebration. Not only will you get to run through the beautiful greenery but you'll also be rewarded with a post-race beer and food. (Morton Arboretum, 4100 Illinois Rte 53, Sun at 8am, $25-$45)
