The five best things to do this weekend in Chicago

1. Get into the groove

We've been continually plugging the Tomorrow Never Knows music festival for good reason: Not only do some of these shows have the best indie-centric bills of the year, but we're about to enter a dry spell as far as festivals go. On Friday, Torres and Julien Baker bring folk rock songs to Lincoln Hall. (Lincoln Hall, 2424 N Lincoln Ave, 9pm on Friday. $15)

2. Laugh a lot

The Chicago Sketch Comedy Festival only happens once a year and this is it's final weekend. This January hasn't been cold and rough by Chicago standards, but these final shows are still guaranteed to warm you with laughter. (Stage 773, 1225 W Belmont Ave, 7pm on Friday, 3pm on Saturday, 1pm on Sunday. Price varies)

3. Take your pick

The location of The Lincoln Lodge may have changed, but its lineup of stand-up comedy has never been better. In its 16th season, the show includes traditional stand-up, a variety-style act, a "man on the street" segment and has even expanded to a new South Side location on Sundays. (Subterranean, 2011 W North Ave, 8pm on Friday. The Revival, 1160 E 55th St, 8pm on Sunday. $10)

4. Dance with all your soul

Soul Summit, one of the best dance parties in the city is Saturday and legendary Chicago club Double Door might close any day now due to conflicts with their landlords. If there’s one night to dance like there’s no tomorrow, it’s tonight, because it may very well be true. (Double Door, 1572 N Milwaukee Ave, 9pm on Saturday. Free)

5. Cubs win!

Learn more about what the Chicago Cubs have to offer in the upcoming season—beyond the possibility of a World Series title—while meeting players, coaches and team veterans at this annual baseball shindig. (Sheraton Chicago Hotel & Towers, 301 E North Water St, 1pm on Friday, 9am on Saturday, 9am on Sunday. $65)
