Steppenwolf Theatre Company has revealed the initial lineup for its new LookOut multi-genre performance series (as teased in the company's subscription season announcement earlier this month), to be presented in the company's new 1700 Theatre.
In chronological order, the lineup includes:
May 19: Singer-songwriter Charlie Strater and friends
May 20: Rock & roll band Curio
May 23–24: Fawzia Mirza's solo play Me, My Mom and Sharmila
May 31–June 12: The previously announced run of Justin Tanner's play Voice Lessons, starring Laurie Metcalf, French Stewart and Maile Flanagan
June 15: Science Night, a live, interactive game show created by the Dilettantes
June 17–18: Improv troupe Sand (Thomas Kelly, Scott Nelson and Mike Brunlieb)
June 21: Steppenwolf for Young Adults presents a staged reading by The Yard
June 23: Musician Dylan Rice leads an evening of Chicago singer-songwriters
June 24: Music by David Singer & the Sweet Science
June 25–26: A staged reading of Second City Theatricals' 2004 hit musical The People vs. Friar Laurence, the Man Who Killed Romeo and Juliet
June 27: Author and performer Isaac Oliver makes his first Chicago appearance, reading from his essay collection, Intimacy Idiot
July 8–9: Conceived by and starring actor Alex Grelle (as Shelley Duvall), Shelley Duvall's Women Under the Influence Theatre deconstructs iconic moments in cinema
August 15–17: Curated by WBEZ and The Moth's Tyler Greene, Sounds Like Chicago: A Live Podcast Festival features some of Chicago's best homegrown shows
