My America Too, a series of short plays filmed "guerilla-style" in such charged locations as Ferguson, Missouri and Baltimore, Maryland, will be screened at the Siskel Film Center on Saturday, February 20 at noon.
The plays were commissioned by Baltimore's Center Stage Theatre from 10 playwrights, including Larissa FastHorse, Neil LaBute, Kenneth Lin and Chicago's own Lydia R. Diamond, tasked with writing a topical scenario set around the kitchen table. Six of the pieces were eventually filmed, directed by Center Stage artistic director Kwame Kwei-Armah and Derrick Sanders, the founding artistic director of Chicago's Congo Square Theatre Company. Sanders, Kwei-Armah and Diamond will be present for a panel discussion following the screening on Saturday. Tickets are $6 for Siskel members and $11 for non-members.
