In March, Chicago Shakespeare Theater made the long-expected announcement that it would be expanding its Navy Pier facility with a third theater space that would also become its largest. Yesterday afternoon at a Choose Chicago media event, CST presented an animated video rendering showing the various ways that “The Yard at Chicago Shakespeare Theater,” with its movable audience “towers,” will be able to be reconfigured.
Construction on the new space, to take the place of Navy Pier’s existing Skyline Stage, is getting underway this spring; it’s expected to open in the 2017–18 season. Get a preview in the video, posted by the project’s construction managers Bulley & Andrews, below.
