Spanish-based Aire Ancient Baths is turning an old River West factory into a 20,000-square-foot Greco-Roman spa.
Set to open later this month, the space will be the company's largest yet—offering guests hot tubs, treatment rooms and plunge pools galore. Coming on the heels of its New York location, Chicago will be Aire's second North American outpost. The spot: 800 W Superior St, a former factory building included in a 37-acre site the city previously pitched to Amazon for its new headquarters.
This isn't the brand's first historic renovation—Aire is known for repurposing historic buildings for its spa locations and modeling their experiences after ancient Greek and Roman traditions. The New York location took over a 19th-century Tribeca textile factory when it opened in 2012.
Although details about pricing and packages at the new location are sparse, you can expect similar experiences to Aire's other locales. If public baths aren't your thing, indulge in a private Tempranillo wine bath or unwind with a Himalayan salt massage. Who knows? Maybe this other-worldly spa will fill the void as we await the final season of Game of Thrones.
