John Bills, the former City Hall official convicted of accepting up to $2 million in cash bribes and gifts in return for aggressively expanding the city's red-light camera program, is scheduled to be sentenced today. Bills faces 10 to 30 years in prison for his role in manipulating the system to benefit Redflex Traffic Systems Inc. while the company showered him with money and other gifts including a car, a condo and vacations, according to the Tribune.
Earlier this year, a Cook County Circuit Court judge ruled that all tickets issued as part of the decade-plus camera program were void because drivers were denied due process.
