What's your favorite Chicago vice? Something fried? Alcoholic? Sugary? Now you can pinpoint the top vice in Illinois with the Foursquare Vices Challenge, a collection of the most popular guilty pleasures in every state in America. Using an algorithm to collect data that identifies the most unique (and perhaps most questionable) tastes in each state (based on combining a mix of data sets from menus, tips, ratings and more), Foursquare locates the most widely-celebrated item in each state.

According to the data, Portillo's Chocolate Cake Shake, a rich concoction of thick, creamy ice cream with chunks of dense chocolate cake (and a secret ingredient: mayonnaise) is the top-rated vice for Illinois residents. Other favored foods and drinks across the country aren't that surprising: In-and-Out Burger in California, Rum Runner cocktails in Florida and fried cheese curds in Wisconsin. While we wondered why decadent Chicago dishes like bacon maple donuts, duck fat fries or our ever-famous deep dish pizza didn't make the cut, perhaps it's because they've become so ingrained in our regular gastro routines we're no longer that guilty about them.
