One of Chicago's nicest homes can't sell, cuts price

A six-bedroom, 10.5-bathroom mansion at 1955 N Burling St listed for a hefty $18.75 million in June of 2014, which made it the most expensive listing in Chicago at the time. It nearly sold earlier this year, but after a contract with prospective buyers couldn't close after two months, it went back into real estate limbo.

In an apparent effort to bring some interest to the place, the price of the home dropped to $16.9 million on Thursday. That stripped away the 20,000 square-foot pad's title of "Most Expensive Home for Sale in Chicago." That distinction now belongs to a historic Lake Shore Drive mansion that hit the market for a cool $17 million last month

So if you're the kind of egomaniac in the market for an unnecessarily large Lincoln Park home that has an indoor pool and spa, a home theater and a separate two-bedroom guest house, now's the chance to take advantage of a pretty solid discount.
