Kokandy Productions has completed casting for this summer’s Chicago premiere of Little Fish, a musical by Michael John LaChiusa (The Wild Party, First Lady Suite), running July 9 to August 20 at Theater Wit.
The esoteric 2003 musical, inspired by a pair of short stories by Deborah Eisenberg about a woman struggling to quit smoking, is described as “an oblique parable for urban life after the attacks of September 11.” The central character, Charlotte, will be played by Nicole Laurenzi; her best friends, Kathy and Marco, will be played by Aja Wiltshire and Adam Fane.
Rounding out the cast are Curtis Bannister as John Paul, Kyrie Courter as Anne Frank, Carl Herzog as Mr. Bunder and Teressa LaGamba as Cinder; the part of Charlotte’s jerky boyfriend, Robert, will be split between Jeff Meyer (July 9–30) and Casey Hayes (Aug 1–20).
Allison Hendrix, Kokandy’s artistic director, will stage the piece, with a design and production team comprising Kory Danielson (music direction), Arnel Sancianco (scenic), Kate Kamphausen (costumes), Alexander Ridgers (lighting), Michael J. Patrick (sound design), Mealah Heidenreich (props design), Charlotte Rivard-Hoster (asst. music director/conductor), Lindsay Brown (production manager) and Kait Samuels (stage manager).
