When Magnificent Coloring Day was announced, an appearance by Chance the Rapper's mentor Kanye West seemed almost impossible—the rapper already had a show on his Saint Pablo Tour scheduled in Nashville on the same day.
But when Tyler the Creator wrapped up his set and "Father Stretch My Hands Pt. 1" came on the speakers in U.S. Cellular Field, Kanye appeared to sing about bleached assholes in person. To say the crowd went wild would be an understatement—nearly everyone in the stadium was on their feet (or their seat) to catch a glimpse of the Chicago native's surprise set.
Kanye quickly made his way through a career-spanning medley, including verses from "Gold Digger" and "Touch the Sky" as crowds formed atop the dugouts.
The unannounced set ended with Kanye welcoming Chance onstage for a rendition of "Ultralight Beam." "I'm so proud of this young man," Kanye exclaimed before making way for Chance to perform his verse.
Presumably Kanye headed straight for his private jet (and on to Nashville) after the afternoon set. Anyone who decided to show up late to Magnificent Coloring Day and missed the guest performance should be kicking themselves—hopefully they have tickets to Kanye's shows at the United Center and Allstate Arena in October.
