For weeks, there's been a suspicious hole in Metro's concert calendar that falls during the weekend of Lollapalooza. Aside from a two-night stand by Jane's Addiction on July 27 and 28, there's nothing else booked at the venue during the busy festival weekend. Until now, that is.
This morning, a brief tweet from Metro revealed there will be at least one more band playing a Lollapalooza aftershow in Wrigleyville on July 29 and 30, teasing an official announcement on Tuesday morning at 10am.
Recognize that disco ball? It's the exact same image used on the cover of LCD Soundsytem's debut, self-titled album (see a comparison below), which leads us to believe that the recently reunited dance-rock act will be playing the Metro ahead of its headlining performance on Sunday night at Lollapalooza. LCD Soundsystem's last show in Chicago took place at the Riviera Theatre all the way back in 2010, shortly before the group disbanded in early 2011.
If you're itching to see James Murphy and company in a more intimate environment than the sprawling fields of Grant Park, keep your eyes on Metro's website tomorrow morning and look forward to dancing yourself clean in just over a week.
