The Chicago Park District has revealed this summer’s lineup for Theater on the Lake, which annually features remounts of recent Off-Loop productions—this year leading off with one of Time Out’s top ten plays of 2016, the Hypocrites’ undersung You on the Moors Now.
For the fourth summer in a row, Theater on the Lake’s programming won’t take place at the actual Theater on the Lake at Fullerton Avenue and Lake Shore Drive. Work has finally begun there on the renovation project that was originally announced in 2013. Instead, the summer’s four remounted plays will take up residence at the Berger Park Cultural Center. Here’s the lineup:
June 28–July 9: You on the Moors Now—The Hypocrites
July 12–23: dirty butterfly—The Blind Owl and Halcyon Theatre
July 26–Aug 6: Romeo y Julieta—Aguijón Theatre
Aug 9–20: Peerless—First Floor Theater
Tickets for all four productions are $10 and go on sale June 1 online or by phone at 312-742-7994.
There will also be a free, work-in-progress reading on August 28 of Theater on the Lake’s first commissioned play, Felons and Familias by Sandra Delgado, at a location to be determined.
