Half Acre, one of the most beloved Chicago breweries in town, will open a kitchen beside its taproom next week, on Thursday, January 14, the Tribune reports.
The menu consists of a line of mouthwatering burritos alongside small plates, grilled toast sides and desserts. The burritos are particularly worth taking a peek at—you won't find these in your corner taqueria. The non-standard options include Chicken Noodle, a burrito with shiitake mushrooms, snap peas, fresh rice noodles and mirin glaze, as well as other offerings like Goat Picadillo, made with avocado, refried white beans, cumin cucumbers, goat cheddar and guajillo spiced goat.
Diners can order more traditional beer-drinking fare like ribs and chicken thighs, too. As for bringing over burgers from The Bad Apple like you used to—don't count on it. This new menu means those days are over.
The food is the brainchild of chef Nick LaCasse, formerly of The Drawing Room and mfk. LaCasse is also at work on the menu that's slated to debut at Half Acre's new brewery, which will feature a 200-seat dining area. That new brewery is scheduled to open in 2016.
Half Acre's taproom and new kitchen is located at 4257 N Lincoln Ave, in North Center.
