Exactly one month after it was announced, the inaugural Get In It MusicFest at Guaranteed Rate Field has been canceled. Organizers divulged the cancellation of the music festival in a release last Friday. The one-day event was set to take place at the home of the White Sox on September 16.

The new music festival would have featured sets from Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Fifth Harmony, Prince Royce, DNCE, Fat Joe, Jeremih, Lupe Fiasco, Carl Thomas and Felix da Housecat. The event was organized as a benefit for Get In Chicago, a privately funded organization that supports violence prevention programs in communities throughout the city.

While no explanation for Get In It MusicFest's abrupt cancelation was provided, the hasty announcement of the festival (just a month and a half before it would have occurred) and it's placement on the same weekend as Riot Fest likely contributed to its demise. Even with notable performers attached, it's increasingly difficult to stand out in Chicago's crowded summer music festival lineup, especially late in the season.

Anyone who purchased tickets for Get In It MusicFest can contact Ticketmaster for a refund.
