For those of you trying to get downtown or further south on the CTA Red Line this morning, you might have some issues. The Red Line is currently operating on aboveground tracks between Fullerton and Cermak-Chinatown. The train will take regular Purple Line stops south of Fullerton and then resume a normal 95th/Dan Ryan route. Howard-bound Red Line trains will run underground as usual.
The delay is "due to track condition[s]." We're not entirely sure what that means, but we do know it'll take longer than normal to get downtown. And for those of you already at the underground Red Line stops, we're sorry it's taking you guys so long to get out. Maybe today's the day to try out those cheap uberPOOLs to make it to work in a timely manner.
@cta after sitting in car #5599 for 30 minutes, our driver finally said something to us.

@cta What about those of us who have been stuck for 30 minutes (and counting) underground in between stops?

This was a true test of my will not to scream in the middle of a packed train car underground. I passed somehow #cta https://t.co/VASqFy5x5B
