Summer in Chicago is usually an excuse to get outside of your apartment, meet your neighbors and enjoy cold beverages on the city's streets. The latest pop-up bar housed in the space adjacent to Emporium Logan Square (the former home of Branca Bar and Pdubz Pipedream) attempts to capture the spirit of a Chicago block party and bring it indoors to a room outfitted with telephone poles and street sweeping signs.

Bottle Rocket will celebrate its grand opening on Thursday, June 8 at 7pm, offering a menu that features food and drinks that will be immediately familiar to anyone who has attended a summer bash in Chicago. Naturally, Old Style and Jeppson's Malort will be available, in addition to a selection of beers from local craft brewers. One of the specialty cocktails is a boozy slushy called the Rosa Rosé, made with Revolution Brewing's Rosa beer, rosé, aperol, lemon and Rare Tea Cellar's hibiscus tea syrup.

Keeping with the block party theme, the food menu includes hot dogs and sausages from Vienna Beef as well as Vitner's chips and snacks. During the opening celebration on June 8, Bottle Rocket will serve a pizza from Logan Square pizzeria Boiler Room that features a crust made with Old Style Light.

Check out some photos of Bottle Rocket (bathed in an orange glow reminiscent of Chicago street lights) below and don't worry if your neighborhood block party gets rained out this year—the celebration will always be raging at this pop-up through the end of July.
