The Double Door has been hosting concerts in Wicker Park for more than 20 years, but the shows at its current location are about to come to an abrupt end. According to the Chicago Tribune, a Cook County Circuit Court judge ruled that the rock venue must vacate the building it currently occupies. The club won't close immediately—next month, Double Door representatives and the building's landlord will meet with a judge to hash out the details.

Today's decision ends a lengthy, eight-month conflict between Double Door and its landlord, who claimed that the venue did not give proper notice of its intention to renew the lease on the space. The feud inspired a petition to the save the venue, but it seems that public outcry wasn't enough to the save the local institution. Double Door's calendar contains bookings through February 2017, but it's now likely that the majority of those shows will have to be canceled or moved to a new venue.

This weekend, Double Door will host what might be its final Soul Summit dance party at the venue on Saturday, July 16 at 9pm. We can think of no better way to pay our respects to the storied venue than by showing up to dance (while we still have the chance).
