Chicago has a plethora of great museums and cultural institutions, almost all of which offer free admission at some point during the year. But New York has taken one giant leap in doling out free access to its public goodies with the IDNYC card.
The municipal ID gives New Yorkers free membership to 33 different local establishments. On top of that, the card acts as a form of identification for undocumented immigrants and those without a permanent address.
One thing is certain: Chicago needs its own version of the IDNYC.
For now, we're stuck with Ventra.
