Earlier this fall Chance the Rapper threw the city the party it needed with his Magnificent Coloring Day celebration, and last night he got the city pumped again as his nonprofit SocialWorks led the Parade to the Polls. The event was originally scheduled to take place at the Virgin Hotel, but was switched to Petrillo Music Shell in Grant Park due to overwhelming response. Chance brought together Chicago artists Twin Peaks, Taylor Bennett and Malcolm London for a non-partisan voting party to encourage young Chicagoans to vote.
Chance performed “Angels,” “No Problem” and “Blessings” from Coloring Book before leading the way for thousands of voters to the polls at 15 W Washington St. During the march to the polls an excited Chance shouted, “This is what democracy looks like!”
