If you stayed up to watch The Late Show last night, you probably caught Chicago's own Chance the Rapper premiering his new single, "Angels." The track features production by the Social Experiment and a hook by West Side emcee Saba, who refers to Chicago as "A city so damn great, I feel like Alexand" (that's Alexand...er the Great.) Throughout the relentlessly upbeat song, Chance shouts out to the mayor, Drake's OVO label, Chief Keef and a couple of Chicago hip-hop radio stations while lamenting all of the kids who have died due to continuing violence in the city. As far as Chance's socially conscientious songs go, it's one of his most effective to date.

After teasing a collaboration with Late Show host Stephen Colbert on Twitter over the weekend, Chance sat down after his performance and mentioned the impending track. He didn't reveal any substantial details, only confirming that—much like "Angels"—the Colbert and Chance team-up will be a surprise release. Even if it ends up being a simple remix of Colbert's classic '80s send-up "Charlene (I'm Right Behind You)," we'll be satisfied.
