Hey everybody, we’re all gonna get… a chance to hang out at a sports bar inspired by the classic comedy Caddyshack! Plans to open a golf-themed bar in nearby Rosemont are said to be in the works, with actor Bill Murray and his brothers reaching a verbal agreement for an 11,000-square-foot bar within the Crowne Plaza hotel, according to the Daily Herald.
The Murray brothers (of which there are six) already run a similar establishment in St. Augustine, Florida. The Murray Bros. Caddyshack bar and restaurant opened in 2001 at the World Golf Village, and now Bill (who was born in Evanston) apparently wants to bring the vury-Murray eatery to his old stomping grounds.
Rosemont Mayor Brad Stephens told the Daily Herald that the Murrays are now in the process of working out a written lease for the site. There is no timetable for the planned bar, and the brothers would have to submit blueprints to the village for approval prior to starting construction.
Of course, this wouldn't be the first celebrity-focused restaurant to open in Rosemont. Toby Keith's I Love This Bar and Grill served up patriotic, country-themed fare in the O'Hare adjacent suburb before closing in 2015.
