Chicago, it's ridiculously hot today, with an excessive heat warning in effect and rain in the forecast. We've only got one good response to this situation and it's clearly trying to stay cool with an ice cold drink, preferably a frozen drink.
Or you could try something a little different. Nosh & Booze (838 W Randolph St), a new West Loop pop-up from AMK Group just opened up yesterday in the former Vivo space with a menu of sandwiches, snacks and other bar food-type plates. But our eyes darted straight to a small spot on the bottom of the drinks menu labeled "Icee Pops." There are two alcoholic popsicles listed for $11 apiece—the Basil 46, with Maker's 46 whiskey, peach, basil, lemon and sugar and the Last Wordcicle, the bar's version of the classic with gin, Chartreuse, lime, cherry and sugar.
They're served just like the treat we used to enjoy as kids, but with more booze. And now we're convinced that there's probably not a better way to cool down.
