Red Star Liquor is no stranger to Logan Square—it’s been in business there for 15 years, and it’s always been a fairly cozy shop with a solid selection of booze. Now, though, the store at 2715 North Milwaukee Avenue has expanded more than threefold to a storefront at 2725 North Milwaukee Avenue, and with it comes a new taproom and lounge. The store’s walk-in beer cave also just doubled, housing 22 doors of cooler space.

While the expanded Red Star Liquor is open now, the Walk-In—the name of the new taproom and lounge connected to the store—will open at 4pm Tuesday, July 19. Inside, you’ll find seating to accommodate 50 happy drinkers, plus an outdoor patio for 20 more. A rolling garage door connects the interior and exterior so everyone can enjoy the breeze on a nice summer day. On weekends, a DJ will play “down-tempo” tunes.

“I wanted to provide a neighborhood spot where everyone can enjoy low-key conversation with a good cocktail or beer,” said owner Esam Hani in a press release.

The Walk-In will be open 4pm–2am Monday–Friday, 2pm–3am Saturday and 2pm–2am Sunday.
