Calling all Parrotheads: Escape to Margaritaville, a Broadway-aimed musical drawing from the song catalog of Jimmy Buffett, will have a tryout run at Broadway in Chicago’s Oriental Theatre in the fall of 2017.

The new show, a romance set at a tropical island resort (obviously), comes with a book by the sitcom writer Greg Garcia (My Name Is Earl, Raising Hope) and the comedian Mike O’Malley. The creative team announced today includes director Christopher Ashley, choreographer Kelly Devine, scenic designer Walt Spangler, costume designer Paul Tazewell, lighting designer Howell Binkley and sound designer Brian Ronan. Casting remains to be announced.

Escape to Margaritaville is set to begin performances November 9, 2017. The official opening and the length of the run are as yet undetermined.
